2021 Festival Update

In response to the Center for Disease Control COVID-19 mitigation recommendations to limit large gatherings, and in the interest of public health and safety, Homegrown Music Festival has made the decision that any Festival programming will be virtual for the 2021 year, including our upcoming Winter Fiasco on January 22nd. Visit www.duluthhomegrown.org for all programming details.

Homegrown will continue to be a presence in the Twin Ports community and will live up to its mission of supporting the local music and arts scene while navigating through the ongoing pandemic.

The Festival staff is grateful for our fans and our community, and we consider the health and safety of everyone to be our top priority. Thank you for supporting the Homegrown Music Festival as we enter our 23rd year.

Thank you,
Melissa La Tour

2021 Performer Application Update

Hello! Melissa, Executive Director with the Homegrown Music Festival here, wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season!

Due to the increased cases of COVID-19, we at Homegrown will be postponing the performer application process for the 2021 festival proper which usually opens on today’s holiday. We will resume planning shortly and will be sure to let you know as the performer application process opens.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to plan the logistics with everyone’s health and safety as our number one priority. We are looking at virtual options to supplement where in-person performances may not be possible as well as following safety protocol in the process.

Thank you,

Melissa La Tour and Team

Kala Moria Did Not Let Covid-19 Kill The Festival Star!

When Homegrown announced earlier this year that the festival would cancel due to risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Kala got pro-active. Moira planned an entire scavenger hunt centered around social distancing in small familiar groups. There were several tasks that needed to be completed for points. The winning team was the team with the most points accumulated.
I participated in this game, and as festival director, it was so exciting to see so many participants eagerly planning their scavenger strategies. Tasks ranged from singing to running a mock Grandma’s Marathon (my personal favorite) to decorating a tree Homegrown style!
On July 24, I presented Kala with a one-of-a-kind “Unofficial Member” team jacket in exclusive royal blue, because the dedication to the festival was above and beyond anyone’s expectation. Kala, thank you for keeping us upbeat and positive in a very uncertain and sad time. Though we did not get to live through our 8 day festival as we know it, many of us got to experience fun with elements of Homegrown sprinkled throughout. You were definitely Homegrown’s 2020 MVP!
