This group of old University of Minnesota Duluth college friends plays folk music as fresh and familiar as the North Shore itself, with hints of country and bluegrass. The Roadside Lupines are a Duluth-based four-piece band blending heartfelt originals with lively covers, from Duluth’s own Trampled by Turtles to Shania Twain. Rooted in the North Shore, their name and music capture the spirit of life up north and the place they’re proud to call home. With Riley Altier on guitar and vocals, Kati Devitt on bass and vocals, Jason Coyle on violin, mandolin, and octave mandolin, and Jamie Sturlaugson on banjo, The Roadside Lupines craft songs that share stories. Their self-titled debut album, released last December, features some wild but true tales, and plenty of fishing.
