The Power of the Puss

String trio the Power of the Puss performs originals and covers in a folk-pop style about “breakups, day-to-day life and people who come into your life then vanish again.” Casey Dunn, who danced with the Duluth Dolls for six years, writes lyrics, sings and plays guitar. She said the band’s name comes from a conversation with her grandmother and friends that included the phrase “that’s the power of the puss!” Ukulele player and vocalist Justine Fosle and Dunn are both grad students in the University of Minnesota Duluth’s nursing program. When Dr. Audrey Toddhunter is not playing violin with the band, she teaches physics at UMD. All three of the P.O.P. musicians are mamas who “are motivated to spread girl power by being silly, sassy and sexy all at the same time.”
