Traditional string trio the Field Birds make music that sounds like it was recorded during a hot, dusty North Carolina barn dance sometime in the mid-20th century. Featuring Kyle Orla on guitar, Clancy Ward on fiddle and Jen Krussow on bass, the group creates original music while it covers and reimagines old-tyme folk and country. “(We’re) driven to bring a relevant voice to old sounds,” Krussow said. The Fields Birds recorded the five-track EP Troubles on Belmont Road somewhere above Chester Creek in Duluth and released it in November.
