Harbor City International students have busted out of class, ditched the bus and stormed down Michigan Avenue in search of a stage. They’ve traded their backpacks and books for guitars, drums and microphones. These truant musicians are called the Rocking Rodents. Alec Williams, Corduroy Joyce-Thompson, Calliope Opal, Alex Baribeau and Xander Ripley-Jaakola play a wide variety of music from Midwest emo to country. The group leans on a strong rhythm section and multiple vocalists to deliver a sound that makes everyone forget about their homework. Don’t be tardy.
