Rich Mattson has been a musician and songwriter for more than 40 years, performing in Minnesota bands such as the Glenrustles, Ol’ Yeller and the Tisdales. In the past decade, he’s been collaborating with his partner Germaine Gemberling, who shares center stage and vocal work with him in the Northstars. Mattson holds down lead guitar, with Gemberling on acoustic guitar, Chris Petrack on drums, Dan Anderson on keys and Calvin Lund on bass. The group has recorded six albums, the most recent being the 2022 release Out There. Mattson is also a popular producer/engineer with a studio in Sparta, about 45 miles north of Duluth.
