Prog rock band Moxen met at The Loch to select a band name after meeting each other at local music shows. Influenced by Magic: The Gathering, they selected Moxen based on a set of artifact cards highly sought by collectors. Each of the artifacts represents one of the five colors of the game, which fit the band thematically once they grew to five members. The card-playing crew includes guitarists Gunnar Olson and Gavin Orson, bassist Jacob Stecher, vocalist Josie Langhorst, and drummer Franco Romualdo. In addition to originals, such as “The Architect,” “Teeth and Tongue,” and “Freakshow,” the band often plays a cover of “TNT” by Minneapolis-based band Heart to Gold.
