Guitarist, songwriter, folklorist, and rural historian Mitchell Hancock performs music under the stage name Mitchell Kane. Steeped in the tradition of folk music, his original compositions sport impressive guitar licks, telling stories about train rides and places he loves. Inspired by guitar luminaries like Tony Rice and Doc Watson, his songwriting utilizes all of the styles that have influenced him, including bluegrass, gospel, jazz, punk, blues, and old-timey tunes. Kane has released multiple singles and EPs on Bandcamp. His most recent title, shared this past December, is called “Stevens County Blues.”
