Mint Vintage

A group of University of Minnesota Duluth students formed Mint Vintage last summer. But judging from their digital single “Scratch ’n Sniff,” one could easily mistake them for an alt-rock band straight out of 1994. Thick, melodic bass lines, heavy minor chords, quiet-loud-quiet drums, and darkly poetic lyrics — it’s all there for the nostalgic to sink their grunge-y lipstick into. And even though drummer Paul Cerar, bassist Brayden Tripp and guitarists Quinn Ryan and Eli Curry may have been mere infants in the late 1990s, their artistic redo of that retro sound is super fresh and smartly fun.
