Flipping around the passive stereotypes associated with the phrase “Minnesota nice,” hip-hop duo MINNESOTA VICE calls instead for Midwesterners to be loud and rise up. Shane T. Mooney Jr., aka Junior the Jenius, started collaborating with Eli Ethan Edholm, performing as Trip.e, after they met at Denfeld High School in 2016. Their lyricism contains themes that call for the lower-class, working individuals to demand more so we can all “survive in this cold world.” The two artists have big dreams to tour all over the state and nationally, and have so far performed as far as Miami, Florida, to share their songs.
