Indie rock band Midnight Kissfight aims to emulate the aesthetics of popular college radio shows and the 2005 era of World Cafe, a two-hour-long, nationally broadcast music radio program. The post-neo-janglecore group features Kaylee Matuszak on vocals and guitarist Jesse Hoheisel, with drummer Ryan Nelson and bassist Liana Sweezer laying down the rhythm. They quietly released their first EP, three songs, at the start of 2026. While they primarily play originals, they’ve been known to toss in the occasional Blondie or Low cover. Off-stage, the crew can be found coining new phrases or arguing about who is going to kiss whom on New Year’s Eve.
