Country-rock band Horse Fzce brings earnest lyrics and uncomplicated instrumentals to the Homegrown stage, putting the Z in folksy. Lead vocalist Heather Surla sings the story of eccentric countryside characters with a guitar in hand. The group started with Surla and vocalist Eric Krenz, with the rest of the crew saddling up partway through the trail. But it’s not their first rodeo; they’ve been playing together as a quartet since 2021. Bassist Tom Frichek adds vocals and harmonies to the mix. Liz Young holds the reins on tempo with a cajon, setting speeds that range between a slow gallop and an upbeat dash.
