Five-piece doom metal band Halfsleeper was conjured from the rot and pressure at the center of the earth. Their swamp metal music is slow, crushing, and filthy. In an auditory atmosphere thick with feedback, grief, and rage, Miss Fox sings about themes of death, abuse, political day, women’s autonomy, and cosmic dread. Tobin Dack holds down lead guitar, with Kridan Wenger doubling on rhythm guitar and synths. Their rhythm section is supported by bassist Sheamus Cavanaugh and drummer Shay Bartley. Half-awake yet half-asleep, the group transmits dreams with a sound that is heavy, unrelenting, and unapologetically dark, exemplifying how it feels to survive in a collapsing world.
