Flip Arkulary

Flip Arkulary is an experimental, electronic project that inhabits an alternate universe where synthesizers rule rock and Orwell dances with disco. Producer Flip Arkulary leads on vocals, MPC (digital music production center), and vocoder. For this year’s Homegrown performance, he’s joined by Jules Ostazeski on vocals, mallet percussion, and vocoder into the mix; Kenneth Gregory Bressler on lead synthesizer; Kyle Gondik-Anderson on bass guitar; and Justin Korhonen on drums. The live show is neo-Weimar, kinetic, dadaist, and relentlessly danceable. The set draws heavily from the near-finished double album Meat for Kitty Man, a post-disco dystopian tale about a man and his cat surviving under a new totalitarian regime, drawing themes from Brave New World, A Clockwork Orange, and 1984. Come for the dystopia, stay for the bass.
