Dirtbike Boyfriend is a solo indy-folk, poetry-rock project launched by photographer, clothing designer and videographer Bret Holland. Holland sings like Daniel Johnston in a crash helmet and strums a laid-back electric guitar like he doesn’t want to break it. The full-length debut Yamaha, released on Bandcamp in 2022, features a collection of sharp, wickedly observational songs about getting high behind the hardware store, being chased by police and moving to the country. Dirtbike Boyfriend sounds fresh, takes unexpected turns and dives into dark places without feeling heavy. Hop on, it’s a great ride.
