Cyr and the Cosmonauts features the core folk duo of Eric Cyr and his sister Rachel Cyr, rounded out by Brady Kamphenkel on drums and John McLoughlin on keys. The band is well-steeped in the American folk tradition, but sometimes stretches into funky 1960s vibing and jazzy forays. Eric’s sometimes idiosyncratic vocal phrasing keeps things interesting and earned him a victory in the One Week Live Songwriter’s Competition at Beaner’s Central in 2018. The band recorded its debut album Callused at Sacred Heart Studio that same year. The follow-up, Songs to Sing Before We’re Dead, came out in 2021.
