Homegrown legends Bratwurst mangle meat and music into a form of entertainment designed to turn the stomach as much as assault the ears. For 25 years, the group has sacrificed packaged liver, raw beef or other animal entrails at the altar of industrial noise. The production is fueled by metal grinders, tire chains, squealing electric guitars and a drummer who takes inspiration from a punch press. “Sometimes bands play too many notes and not enough show,” said frontman Tyler Scouton. “We fill the gap. We are Duluth’s gap-fillers.” Scouton is backed in the band by Jason Ratajek, Leon Rohrbaugh, Brennan Atchison and Jeremy Craig.
