Boxcar is a spirited country ensemble with a rock flair, led by singer/guitarist Blake Shippee. Alongside guitarists “Misisipi” Mike Wolf and Andy Lipke, drummer Rick Bruner, and bassist Gordon Lewi, Shippee channels the spirits of George Jones, Hank Williams and John Prine. The band’s 2020 album, Cheap Hotel, showcases original tunes, while the 2021 release, Covers – Vol. 1, pays homage to musical icons. The band has been working on a new album of originals with the plan to start recording around the time of Homegrown.
