Guitarist Terry “Redeye Dread” Gums and bassist Thomas “Too Sharp” Harris have been playing psychedelic funk rock in Duluth for 20 years as Boku Frequency. Various drummers have occupied the stool behind them over the decades, the latest being Elliot “Backbeat” Harris. The lean, mean, down-in-the-groove power trio combines its members’ styles with influences including James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Isaac Hayes, War, Sly and the Family Stone, Santana, the Isley Brothers and a whole lot of other 1960s and ’70s powerhouses.
