Amy Abts

Rochester native Amy Abts’ roots in the Duluth music scene go deep. While attending the
University of Minnesota Duluth, she was the first performer at the first Homegrown in 1999. She
later co-chaired the first steering committee when the festival became a nonprofit in 2006.
Around the same time, she began having mysterious medical symptoms that led to a diagnosis
of a degenerative cranial nerve condition and years of chronic health issues that slowed but did
not deter her music creation. Recent projects include her trio Extinct Gingers and her band the
Transcranials. She has released albums both as a solo artist and with many of her projects, and
plans to release new music before Homegrown.
