After playing a solo, acoustic set last year, punk-rock guitarist and songwriter Alex Heil returns to Homegrown backed by a full band and six new songs. He describes their set as having “a sorrowful heart trying to be an uplifting spirit.” Lead guitarist Joey Steadman rips melodies on new originals such as “And We Would Have Gotten Away With It Too, If It Weren’t For You Meddling Kids,” a song about the power of the younger generations against the “terrible things happening in our state, country, and the world.” Bassist Jackson Engstrom and drummer Rob Runnels hold down the rhythm section.
