A Band Called Truman

The seven-piece “rock-ska-boogie-down affair” called A Band Named Truman is led by singer and guitarist Leon Rohrbaugh. The band has been featured on the compilation albums Free Wheelin’ Duluth Does Dylan, Cedar Sessions, Vol. 1 and One Week Live, Volume 17. Spanning ages “30 to 70 and everything in between,” the band includes Ian Connell on drums, Jim Pospisil on keys, John Erickson on bass, and a horn section comprised of Dale Shimmin on trombone, Jessica Lilja Olson on trumpet, and Kelli Hallsten Erickson on saxophone. Throwing down mostly uptempo original tunes with a punky, soul groove, the band is known for jumping around and sweating. “For a bunch of old farts, we’re pretty hyper,” said Rohrbaugh. “I’m excited every time we play.”
