Dishing out original horn rock, the hyper, foot-stompin’ group titled A Band Called Truman! plays as loud as the exclamation point in their name may indicate. Sprinkling in a bit of ska, the lively, not-afraid-to-sweat, seven-piece band is led by frontman Leon Rohrbaugh and his guitar. The group has been performing together in the area for the past 16 years, with a rhythm section held down by drummer Ian Connell, bassist John Erickson, and Jim Pospisil on keys. Packing a powerful punch and always ready to boogie are horn players Kelli Hallsten Erickson on saxophone, Dale Shimmin on trombone, and Jessica Lilja Olson on trumpet. Compilation albums that Truman has been featured on include Free Wheelin’ Duluth Does Dylan, Cedar Sessions: Vol. 1, and One Week Live: Vol. 17.
