John Holden describes the art created with Matt Norby under the name Ractalfece as, “spoken-word storytelling and improvisation with an electronic new-age soundtrack.” That description is technically accurate. The hours of short videos posted at youtube.com/ractalfece back it up. It’s also not even close to encompassing what the videos, which Holden posted a lot of between 2007 and 2009, and a few of in the past couple-three years, look or sound or feel like. Recent posts are trippy combinations of found footage, sparse, spacey, vaguely threatening synth ambiance, and Holden’s fever-dream improvised and written words. Comments under the videos frequently include the words “beautiful” and “genius.”
