The members of the Iron Range band PocketKnife combine their collective talents toward the goal of writing Americana songs with the grit of rock and lyrics of folk music. That sound was achieved with last year’s release of the EP Rivard Road Sessions and shared across Minnesota and Montana during last summer’s tour, in addition to a gig at the Prairie Pothole Festival in North Dakota. The group features singer and guitarist Karl Sundquist, fiddle and cowbell ace Jill Burkes, lead guitarist Rob Wheeler, bassist Josh Palmi, and drummer Sam Papin. They have been writing music together in overlapping projects over the past 15 years.
