Lyla Abukhodair got her start in the Duluth music scene in 2017 as part of the folk group NorShore Summit. She launched her solo act in 2020 as a singer-songwriter but added a high-energy pop-punk side to her work in 2021, captured in the EP Your Mom Hates Me Now, released in June. She still plays solo folk shows, but at Homegrown she’ll be backed by her punk band consisting of Robert Runnels, Sam Miller, Jackson Engstrom, Marshall Dillon and Leander Van Ess.
