Formed 25 years ago, Low has carried its haunted harmony and relentless guitar sound from an underage club in a former Bell Telephone Company exchange building on East First Street in Duluth to the music halls of Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin. Heck, the “golden god” of rock himself, Robert Plant, even recorded a couple of Low songs in 2010. Last year guitarist Alan Sparhawk, drummer Mimi Parker and bassist Steve Garrington performed in Beijing, China, were commissioned to compose new organ music at London’s Union Chapel and opened a July music celebration at Bayfront Festival Park — just down the hill from the Sparhawk home.
