It’s been eight years since visual artist Emma Rustan transformed into electronic folk musician Ingeborg von Agassiz. By the end of 2017, her debut album, O Giver of Dreams, had established her place among Duluth’s most popular musicians. The 2021 followup, Coventry Carols, a collection of “original dark holiday tunes inspired by Victorian ghost stories and the winter blues,” expanded her catalog of often bleak, always beautiful songs. Though she sometimes performs with just an acoustic guitar for smaller audiences, the full-on Ingeborg von Agassiz experience has the artist using keyboards and other electronic instruments to create looped layers of sound.
