Flight of Stares is a piano-driven indie rock group originally from the Brainerd Lakes area, now based in Duluth. This will be the band’s Homegrown debut. “Growing up with little live music, we’ve always loved events like Homegrown,” says Ethan Gibbs, who plays guitar, keys, and adds backing vocals. “We’re excited to share our music from the other side of the stage.” They blend influences from Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Ben Folds, Elliott Smith, and Wilco. Along with Gibbs, the band features Jack Kloster on keys, guitar, and vocals; Phil Huss on guitar; Mac Nagy on bass; and Jesse Burns on drums. Primarily playing original songs, they sometimes throw in covers ranging from Genesis to SpongeBob.
