Guitarists Sonja Bjordal and Lee Martin spent years performing together in bands with various names until they ultimately branded their act Feeding Leroy in 2014. The group is presently a folk foursome with Luke Martin on harmonica and Adam Staupe on upright bass. All members contribute vocals, which makes for some soulful harmonies. Feeding Leroy gigs throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, opening for acts like the Dead Horses and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. Martin characterizes the sound as “flying saucer folk,” an offshoot of cosmic Americana. “It’s folk that’s just a little out there and definitely E.T.-friendly!” Feeding Leroy has a track on Cedar Sessions Volume 1, a recent compilation of live performances recorded at Earth Rider Brewery’s Cedar Lounge taproom.
